Get out your favorite instrument for June 21st! This year, we’re pleased to announce a special initiative called “Mass Appeal”. Ensembles consisting of multiples of the same instruments will perform in prominent outdoor locations, bringing together hundreds of musicians in an extravaganza of unique instrumentation that anyone can join.
Over here at the Make Music NY blog, we’ll be highlighting these fabulous groups and their plans for the summer solstice.
If you’re interested in joining an ensemble, sign up as an “Artist” on the Time Out New York site at timeoutnewyork.com/makemusic and search Locations for “mass appeal”. Open call to ALL ACCORDION PLAYERS, big and small, short and tall, to join our MASS ACCORDIONS performance at JJ Byrne Park, 5th Av & 3rd St, Park Slope, Brooklyn on June 21st!!!
Volunteer players are invited to participate in the chorus for the debut performance of a new site-specific piece written by composed Bob Goldberg for Famous Accordion Orchestra. Players will also be invited to participate in the play-along portion of the program with the Main Squeeze Orchestra, conducted by Walter Kuhr, which leads to the final accordion parade around the park!
Call time is 4:00pm for all volunteer players, to set-up on site. Bring as little as possible to the park, as there is no coatcheck for jackets, purses, or instrument cases. Public washrooms are available.
